A Horse of a Different Colour

Or in this case many! This week I had the oppourtunity to attend and photograph my first RPSI Inspection at Blazing Colours Farm. It was a great day, complete with gorgeous horses, friendly people and a delicious lunch. Blazing Colours Farm had quite a few horses being inspected (they all passed with flying colours - no pun intended) and there were a couple of horses that came in for the inspection as well. After the inspection had taken place the foals were given their RPSI brands and then April brought out two of her stallions; Sato and Mirabeau.

This is Mirabeau - he was the sire of most of the foals I saw at the inspection.

Sato, another one of April's stallions. This guy was my personal favourite of the day - so much presence and look at that colour!

This was the first time I had ever witnessed branding. I was surprised (and relieved!) at how little most of the babies reacted, and how quickly they recovered.

This little colt had the sweetest, quietest temperment.

April's foals all seemed to be well handled, well mannered and they knew who their other "mom" was!

This mare was more than happy to show off for the liberty phase of her inspection - maybe a little too happy ;)
A pretty mare from Rivendell Arabians, I just couldn't resist snapping this headshot!
