Big Announcement!

I am very excited to announce the next of the big changes at Annya Miller Photography! We are opening an in home studio location! The studio is located in Pickering and will be by appointment only. The work, the fun and all of that good stuff will remain the same but we will have a great space that will allow us to create even more fantastic images!

The studio is currently under renovation and I will be running some great specials to celebrate, so keep checking in for details... I promise not to keep everyone waiting for too long :)

The entire menu has been changed and made into a convenient pdf for your perusal.. The Lovely Miss Holly {Equine}

This summer I got together with a friend of mine to do portraits of her lovely young mare Holly. Her "mom" took great care in getting her all dressed up for the occasion and I think she looked awesome! We had a great time taking the pictures and I think Holly had an even better time running around in the field and posing.

The Waiting Game... {Maternity}

Earlier on this year I met Tania, who was expecting her first child. She and her husband were wonderful to work with and were so excited for this baby. I was also excited, as always, to meet their little one! We created tons of great images and then decided that we would wait until the baby arrived to book their newborn session as they were new parents and not sure what to expect as far as when they would be ready to do the portrait session. Well they waited, and waited and waited for their little addition to make an appearance. I think she just wanted to make a grand entrance and of course this she was WELL worth the wait, and is gorgeous! Just wait till you see the pictures!

Brooklin Pony Club Show Jumping {Equine}

This summer I had the oppourtunity to attend the Brooklin Pony Club's Show Jumping Qualifier and Finals as the official photographer. We got lucky with great weather both days and I had tons of fun watching all the great trips! Both Natalie and myself from Equine Eye Photography were there, as well as our newest addition Kristy!

Here are a few photos of some of the lovely horse and rider combinations that came out to the show:

One of my favourite things about this particular show was the attitude and horsemanship displayed by ALL of the young riders. They were very patient and gracious competitors who displayed true horsemanship and a great affection for their mounts.

Summer Fun! {Family Session}

This summer I had a fantastic fun session with a wonderful family in Toronto. We took their two kids "G" two and "L" just a few months, and their very sweet and well behaved dog Primo to the park for some fun in the sun. Here are just a few of the images from that morning!

I had a great time working with this family and can't wait to get together with them again in the future!

Catching Up - Spring Photo Session at Blazing Colours Farm

I have known April at Blazing Colours Farm for about 3 years now. Each year I have travelled out to Wellandport to photograph that years crop of foals and any new mares that have been added to her coloured sporthorse breeding program, as they go through the RPSI inspection. This year I was delighted to squeeze in an extra photo session to take photos of the first year's crop of babies now that they have grown! Here are some of the many many pictures that were taken that day! (Doesn't she breed just gorgeous horses?!)

The above is a personal favourite shot of mine, and also happens to be of a personal favourite horse of mine! I have been threatening to put her in my trunk when I pack up to go home since she was only a few months old. I guess now with her standing well over 16hh its not too much of a threat :P

Of course at the end of the session we just couldn't resist going out into the field and playing with this years group of babies!

April has seriously got some of the most friendly horses I have ever met! They ALL come up for a visit and a scratch as soon as you walk out into the field! More from this RPSI inspection to follow!

Another Apology and the Sam Puc Tour

Whew! What a busy summer this has been. Its been crazy, exhausting and a lot of fun, and I am looking forward to having it continue on into the fall and holiday season!

I promise I will be uploading some samples from some of the sessions that I have done recently. I know I have been slacking and I am sorry, but I promise that the little dolls I have been shooting all summer (along with some beautiful 4 legged creatures) are well worth the wait!

One thing that I absolutely couldn't wait to blog about was my recent trip to see the "Babies and Bellies" tour with Sam (Sandy) Puc. What an incredibly inspiring woman! My friend Kelly of Kelly Temple Photography and I went to see her seminar and we both just kept looking at each other and shaking our heads in a mixture of disbelief that one person could accomplish as much as she has in a 1 year period and those light light bulb moments that make you go "seriously, how did I NOT think of that?!"

It was wonderful and Sam has completely lit a fire under my business. There will be some great new things both big and small happening at Annya Miller Photography over the next few months and for 2010 and I am totally excited about it. I am also looking forward to my upcoming newborn and maternity sessions as I have a whole bag of new tricks to try out!

Teddy & Brynn

A little more catching up here, what a busy summer it's been! These photos are from a session that I did with Brynn and her 3 year old TB gelding Teddy. They are both adorable and sweet in every way possible - I had a great time at the session and both Brynn and I were excited by the results!

At first Brynn didn't want to be in the pictures, but Teddy is a cuddler and insisted on getting nice and close to his mom making it pretty tough to get a good silhouette of just him... plus I had a feeling Brynn would like the results one she saw them - and I was right :P

I love her smile in this photo - she just loves her boy!

A little bit of Teddy's silly personality sneaking out! Either that or he was feeling bored by our little photo shoot.

I just loved these beautiful silhouettes. We shot a whole series of the two of them and I was so happy with the way they turned out, especially the sunbursts streaming across the photo.

Thanks for a great session Brynn! (And thanks to Teddy for cooperating as long as he did! Lots of carrots are in order for that one!)

One Year Later...

Little "G" is growing up! Last year around this time I was lucky enough to photograph this adorable little boy when he was about a month old. Some of the pictures for that section are actually featured on the slideshows of my website...

Isn't he gorgeous?!?! Well his wonderful Mom and Dad (who I have known for a few years now and are just the nicest people - completely deserving of such a beautiful little boy) allowed me the pleasure of coming out to photograph "G" just before his first birthday. I had a fabulous time at the park with them, and although "G" was a little tired he was still just a happy little boy that was super easy to get along with!

Look at that face, do they come any cuter?!

Even though he was a little tired and probably would have rather been at home sleeping on Mommy or Daddy we still managed to pull out a few of those beautiful smiles and show off those teeth!

Mom had bought him this great little bubble machine for his birthday (and then opened it early :P ) which I loved for creating some cute photos!

And of course we can't forget his little buddy Chandler who was also very co operative about having his photograph taken and is just fantastic and so patient with his curious little brother.

Thanks again for having me out guys! Enjoy the photos and hopefully we will do more in the near future!

Another Round of Headshots...

"K" and I had so much fun doing our first round of headshots that she came back for another shoot. This time she brought a hair and makeup stylist and we really glammed it up and went to town, going for a more edgy look!

I had so much fun doing this sessions, I might just have to start booking for headshots as well! (Not that I will ever give up my maternity and babies!!!)

About a month after doing these sessions with "K" I found out that at her convention she not only won the runway competition but received call backs from ten different agents! I am confident that this beautiful young lady will do very well for herself in the industry and am so excited to see her doing well! Congrats girl!

Girls Having FUN!

I have always loved how much fun young girls tend to have given a little free rein, a couple of friends and a camera! A few weeks back I popped by a long time friend's (who happens to be a photographer as well) home and did a photo shoot with my friend's niece, a very special little lady named "K". After a little while of shooting a couple of "K"'s friends popped by and we had a blast taking silly and beautiful pictures all night! Here are a few from that evening:

After doing all of the fun group shots, I had each girl take a few by herself. I think its nice for every young girl to have a photo of herself that she KNOWS she is stunning in.

Headshots

A few months back I worked with a young girl named "K" who was interested in getting into modelling and needed headshots for an upcoming convention.

Normally I just stick to babies, maternity and animals - comfortable and familiar, but it sounded like a fun opporunity so I decided to give it a whirl. As it turns out, it was an absolute BLAST and I think we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Here are the results of our first two sessions:

Fun Family Shoot

This spring I was lucky to meet "V" and his beautiful wife "M" and their two children "S" and "A". What a busy household they have with two little boys running around, but I just loved their family dynamic. Mom and Dad seem like such a great team and their children seem to be thriving!

"S" is such an energetic little thing! We had a great time checking out all of his toys and boy was it ever tough to get him in the picture, smiling and still for a family photo - so we made it into a game of peek-a-boo!

Look at that face! How can you not fall in love with this baby boy?!

I love the affection that Mom and Dad have for their kids and each other. It seemed like such a pleasant and happy household...

Little "S" loved any attention that came his way and was more than happy to ham it up for the camera!

Thank you to this wonderful family for allowing me to spend an afternoon with them!

Recently I decided to give in to the whole "facebook" approach to life and created a group for Annya Miller Photography and a group for Equine Eye Photography.

I will be using these groups to keep people updated with the going ons and specials being offered for each, as well as I will likely be giving special discounts and offers at different times to the member's of the group. Baby Blue Eyes!

When I had the pleasure of going to meet baby girl "M", I could not get over her gorgeous blue eyes! They are just so bright. She is an adorable little thing as you will see from the pictures and I had a great time photographing her with her mom, and dad. They were great people, with great senses of humour and we had a ton of fun!

While mom and dad were off comforting and changing little baby "M" their striking cat sauntered up and sat down on the backdrop as if to say, "ok I am ready for my closeup!" and I just couldn't resist! Isn't he handsome?

New Options For Digital Files!

Over the last few months the pressure from clients to start offering options for digital files has been impossible to ignore! I have always hesitated to provide the digital negatives to my work because I really do prefer to retain creative and quality control over the prints being made from my negatives, however due to the overwhelming number of requests I have been receiving, I have decided to bend to change and embrace the new formats. In all honesty, another problem that I have had with the digital files is that I find that some, NOT all; people feel that they should be able to obtain the full resolution files for almost nothing. Unfortunately this is just not something that will be possible as the reality is that it is just as much work (in some cases more) for me to create a beautiful, fully retouched set of digital images as it is to create the prints.

That said, I am excited to announce that I have come up with some new digital options, and would be more than happy to hear any feed back that you might have or suggestions of products you would like to see in the future! The Wating... And The Result!

My next featured client is "A", "M" and "Baby Girl M". Our first session was scheduled on the day of the biggest snowstorm of the year, and because it was about a 1 and a 1/2 hour drive in GOOD weather we decided to postpone. "M" was very sweet and understanding and we ended up having a wonderful maternity session together! As you can see she was just beautiful in her pregnancy!

I was delighted about a month and half later to recieve an excited email from "A" announcing the arrival of little baby girl "M". I could tell from the email that "A" was over the moon and could not wait to go and meet their new baby girl.

"M" was just adorable in person and was very good considering she had such a long day with visitors from all over popping in and a photoshoot! I'm sure Daddy was pleased at her modesty as well, as little "M" refused to cooperate as long as she was naked, but settled in quite happily once she had her little pink outfit on! Just adorable!

Baby J and "Sister" Ophelia

Due to the fact that life gets busy, and quite frankly I tend to forget to provide regular updates, I am going to go through the last year of photo shoots over the next few weeks and show off some of the adorable babies, children and beautiful bellies that I have had the pleasure of photographing over the last few months.

The first of these sessions is Baby Girl J. She was only a few days old during our session and her proud mom and dad were more than happy to show her off. She has since become quite famous on ww.annyamillerphotography.com as one of the poster children for my portfolio! Here are a few of her images:

Her "older sister" Ophelia was grateful for the oppourtunity to get up close and personal with her new sister. I love the way she is watching over her here! So peaceful!

The Month Long Celebration of Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the wonderful and fabulous Mom's out there!

For the entire month of May I am celebrating Mom's with some special offers! For the new and expectant mother's out there I am offering free newborn and maternity sessions. This is a great opportunity to have beautiful pregnancy or newborn images created to document this very special time forever, without having to worry about the cost of a session fee.

Well this is going to be one busy week, but hopefully at the end of it (one I finish playing catch up) I will have tons of great photographs to share with you of all of the little munchkins and their families that I will be meeting this week.

Welcome to the new and hopefully much improved Annya Miller Photography site and blog! I do apologize that I have not stayed even remotely on top of this blog, in fact I would say that my attempts were actually quite pathetic. I am however now putting it out there now into the internet universe that I am going to do my very best to post regularly with updates and images of all of the adorable little darlings that I get to meet on a regular basis!

Please check out the new site - I would love to hear what everyone thinks! I am hoping that you will find it more user friendly and aesthetically pleasing. I have also begun to add a few new packages and price point options as I was getting a fair number of request for it. I will be continuing to add new options as the next few months go on.

Also don't forget that I am continuing to run my no sitting fee special! So if you were thinking of having your little ones (or if you are expecting a little one!) now is a great time to book your appointment and save yourself some $$$!

Not too long ago I did a maternity session for my cousin Gavin and his lovely lady Shannon. They were expecting their first child and we were all excited to find out that it would be a baby girl!

Well she has arrived! I am pleased to introduce the newest (and quite possibly the cutest!) member of the family, beautiful baby Breeanne!

Alright, so a little more catching up!! In September I got to meet with little Emily at the gardens in a local library where we did a little mini session. It was a great time because boy does she have personality!

How could anyone not love that face? So adorable - Thank you Emily and Mom Kristin for our fun day in the park, I hope we can meet again soon!
